Belarus, African Union agree to develop cooperation plan

Belarus and the African Union have agreed to develop a plan and priorities for cooperation. The issue was discussed at the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kenya, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the African Union Pavel Vzyatkin with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the organization in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. According to the Belarusian diplomat, the country is committed to the consistent development of relations with the countries of the African continent on the principles of mutual respect and trust and building mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

“In the context of discussing promising areas of cooperation between Belarus and African countries, the chairperson of the African Union Commission highly appreciated the potential for cooperation in agriculture, taking into account the quality of equipment and competences of Belarus in agriculture,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The parties agreed to work together with the specialized departments of the Commission to structure interaction and develop a plan and priorities for further cooperation.
