Historical memory is among the strategic national interests of Belarus, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said at the 2nd international conference dedicated to the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, BelTA learned.

“Today we see the world stability and the established system of international regional security crumble. New risks, challenges and threats to national security are emerging. We once again hear armored vehicle roaring in neighboring states; the military presence of foreign contingents is increasing,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.

He emphasized that the world has again approached the edge of the abyss. “it is important that we honor history and prevent distortion of historical memory, loss of national values and sense of pride. It is important that we remember that we are descendants of the victors. This is why historical memory is among the strategic national interests of our country,” he noted.
