“The Union State Youth Forum is aimed at strengthening friendship between the young people of Belarus and Russia. Its main objectives are to foster patriotism, preserve our shared historical memory, and discuss joint youth policy. The idea of the forum is to build a dialogue with active young people in order to develop coordinated approaches to patriotic education, harmonize legislation, and draw up a strategy for the development of the Union State’s youth policy,” the press service said.

The forum will bring together members of parliament from the Union State Parliamentary Assembly and members of its Youth Chamber, youth chambers at the national parliaments of both countries, young historians, and representatives of youth organizations and the academic community of Belarus and Russia.

The forum program includes a plenary session and three thematic sections: the historical legacy of Victory in the Great Patriotic War as a key factor in the patriotic education of youth; the contribution of the peoples of the Soviet Union to Victory in the Great Patriotic War; and the Union State’s youth policy: from model to practice.

As part of the forum, the 18th festival Youth for the Union State will take place, along with an exhibition and a master class “Folk arts and crafts as a vital element in preserving national identity”. Young participants will also meet with prominent political and public figures.

In addition, during the forum there will be a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly commission on the preservation and protection of historical memory and a session of the Youth Chamber at the Parliamentary Assembly.
