What Cuban president gifted to Lukashenko

The Belarus 1 TV channel showed the footage of a gift exchange ceremony between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, BelTA learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko met with his Cuban counterpart on 25 June, on the eve of the Eurasian Economic Forum. The presidents discussed projects in the manufacturing industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food. Miguel Diaz-Canel was gifted Belarusian delicacies and cornflowers, one of the symbols of Belarus. “Women love such flowers,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Cuban president also gave gifts to the Belarusian leader. For example, the Cuban cigars that his country is famous for. The cigars were packaged in a box shaped like a typical Cuban farmer’s house.

“I know you don’t smoke, but you can offer it to your friends,” he said.

“No, I will try,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said unexpectedly.

Another gift to the Belarusian president was traditional Cuban rum, another signature brand of the country. “I know what Cuban rum is, because Miguel once gave me rum. Great drink!” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The Cuban president also presented his Belarusian counterpart with Cuban shirts made specifically for the visit and handed over the presents from Raul Castro.
