Belarus points out Non-Aligned Movement's big contribution to global healthcare agenda

28.05.2021

Belarus participated in a traditional meeting of healthcare ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement during a session of the World Health Assembly, the press service of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich thanked Azerbaijan (the country presiding over the Non-Aligned Movement) for convening the traditional meeting of healthcare ministers. Dmitry Pinevich mentioned the healthcare minister of Azerbaijan always pays close attention to matters of public health both within the framework of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Organization. “Thanks to Azerbaijan the Non-Aligned Movement has acquired a strong voice and makes a large contribution to the global healthcare agenda,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

In his speech Dmitry Pinevich mentioned Belarus has a modern healthcare system that effectively resolves all the problems. “We are ready to share our best practices with colleagues from other countries,” he added.

The Non-Aligned Movement was founded in 1961 to defend interests of developing nations amid the Cold War confrontation. At present the international organization includes 120 member states or 60% of the UN member states. As many as 17 countries and ten organizations enjoy the observer status in the Non-Aligned Movement. Azerbaijan is the country presiding over the organization in 2019-2022.
