07.03.2023

Russia will provide Belarus with $3.5 million for a project to localize the SDGs, Head of the Sustainable Development Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vadim Pisarevich told reporters, BelTA reports.

"We have a clear architecture for the process of achieving the SDGs. The task is to ensure its continued effective functioning. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to play its role as a coordinator in this process," Vadim Pisarevich said. “In the next three years, all participants of the national architecture will be involved, to one degree or another, in the major project called ‘Supporting the efforts of the Republic of Belarus in the nationalization and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals'. Within the framework of this project, the donor, which is the Russian Federation, will provide financial resources in the amount of about $3.5 million.”

The project includes a number of activities to support the national architecture for the SDGs, to promote the inclusion of the SDGs in the regional planning system, and to develop the system for collecting, monitoring and evaluating data on the Sustainable Development Goals.

"A number of government bodies will be involved in the project activities, which they will implement in partnership with the representative offices of international organizations in Belarus. The project will get underway soon. Currently, government bodies in partnership with representatives of international organizations are specifying the activities to be included in the work plan of the project for this year," Vadim Pisarevich added.
