Over 342,000 children to recuperate in Belarus' children camps this summer

03.06.2021

Some 342,000 boys and girls will spend time in Belarusian children's summer camps this summer, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told reporters, BelTA has learned.

On 2 June the vice premier paid a visit to a summer camp in secondary school No. 1 in Dubrovno. The all-day camp in the area will begin its work on 5 June, while school health camps opened their doors on 1 June. “We took a look at the organization of children's meals, leisure time, and activities. We plan that this year about 342,000 boys and girls will improve their health in round-the-clock health camps and school day camps,” said Igor Petrishenko.

The Belarusian deputy prime minister also held a reception of citizens in Dubrovno District Executive Committee. Galina Makarenko, a local resident, told that she had fallen ill with coronavirus in winter. Thanks to the doctors and their attitude towards the patients, the pensioner fully recovered. She also added that some of the patients from her ward needed a lung ventilator. The hospital has two lung ventilators which function but are out of date. The hospital's ultrasound machine is also obsolete. The local resident asked the equipment to be upgraded.

Igor Petrishenko thanked for the attention to the country's healthcare system. “We have discussed the issue and the healthcare department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee plans to purchase a portable ultrasound machine for Dubrovno Hospital. This issue will be solved. We will also work to replace the lung ventilators,” the deputy prime minister said and emphasized the importance of vaccination. Now the situation with the COVID-19 virus in the area is calm. The local hospital conducts its regular services. Those in need of inpatient treatment are sent to the Orsha clinic.
