Ambassador thanks Belarus for support and solidarity with Iranian people
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei thanked Belarus for its support and solidarity with the Iranian people as he talked to journalists at the Iranian Embassy in Minsk that opened a book of condolences on 21 May following the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and a number of the country's senior officials, BelTA has learned.“We say in Iran that a friend in need is a friend indeed. We really feel this here in Belarus,” the diplomat said. According to him, from the first hours after the tragedy, Belarusians (officials of various levels, including high-ranking officials, representatives of organizations, and ordinary citizens) have been coming to the Iranian Embassy to bring flowers and express condolences in connection with the tragic event. Many senior officials expressed words of condolences over the phone the day before, and many come to the embassy in person on 21 May to leave an entry in the book of condolences and express solidarity with the people of Iran. They included Chair of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko.
“This is a testimony to our good relations at the level of people, society, and at the level of leadership and government,” the ambassador emphasized.
