Belarus’ foreign trade surplus at $259m in January-August 2024
The surplus of Belarus’ foreign trade in goods and services amounted to $259 million in January-August 2024, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).
In August 2024 Belarus had a deficit of the foreign merchandise trade of $106.4 million, which was below the monthly deficit of $279.3 million in January-July 2024. The surplus of foreign trade in services kept growing and reached $365.2 million in August 2024.
In January-August 2024, the foreign trade in goods and services went up by 4.7% to total $64.7 billion.
In the past five months Belarus’ export of goods and services gained momentum which resulted in a $184 million surplus of foreign trade in goods and services in January-August 2024.
Belarus’ foreign trade in goods had a deficit of $2.06 billion in January-August 2024. Export of services outpaced their import, which produced a surplus of foreign trade in services of $2.25 billion.
