Belarus’ grain harvest 2024 at 10.3m tonnes
A total of 10.3 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus, Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vladimir Grakun told a press conference on 12 November, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Grakun, the ability of Belarusian farmers to make the best use of the accumulated experience and changing weather conditions helps them get stable harvests. “This year is no exception. Grain figures have increased. In general, some 10.3 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in the country. The promises we made at the beginning of the season have been fulfilled. We have added almost 100,000 oilseeds of rapeseed, and also we have cropped 5 million tonnes of sugar beet and provided our population with fruit and vegetable products,” he said.
Today Belarusian food products (apples, vegetables, potatoes) are available in all stores. Reserves have been made to ensure that food products are available in the country almost until the new harvest. “Here, all the credit goes to our agricultural workers, who implement technologies developed by the National Academy of Sciences and get wonderful harvests,” Vladimir Grakun said.
The Day of Workers of Agriculture and Processing Industry was established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus on 10 November 1995 and is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of November. In 2024, it will be celebrated on 17 November.
