Belarusian cosmonaut to use Roscosmos infrastructure to train
Belarus intends to train its own cosmonaut using Roscosmos' infrastructure, BelTA learned from Academician Piotr Vityaz, Chief of Staff of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Piotr Vityaz said: “I think that in H1 2022 we will sign a roadmap on training a Belarusian cosmonaut using Roscosmos' infrastructure. The Academy of Sciences has set up an interagency commission just for that. The matter is also on agenda as an instruction of the president.”
In his words, the primary task now is to select the candidate, however not only for space flights but for scientific studies, too. The matter was discussed at a recent conference of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
