CIS diplomats discuss realization of multilateral conventions on legal aid
The 29th session of the consultative council of heads of consular services of the CIS member states took place on 7 June in the form of a videoconference, BelTA has learned.
Delegations of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took part in the session. A delegation from Turkmenistan was present as an observer. The Belarusian delegation was led by Andrei Kozhan, Head of the Central Consular Office of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participants of the conference exchanged opinions concerning the fulfillment of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 24 April 1963, the realization of provisions of multilateral conventions on legal aid and legal relations in civil cases, family cases, and criminal cases. The protection of rights and interests of citizens of the CIS states was also discussed.
The minutes of the session reflect a positive opinion of the existing level of interaction between the consular services of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
