Belarus and China find common ground in the field of culture, Culture Minister of Belarus Anatoly Markevich said as he met with a delegation of China's Gansu Province on 9 August, BelTA has learned.
“We maintain close and efficient cooperation in all areas,” the culture minister emphasized. “Our interaction has a history of many decades, and we always come to terms and find common ground in our joint projects,” he noted.
Anatoly Markevich emphasized the importance of the Days of Culture that have been held since 2011. “In this short period of time, we have met six times,” he said. “Our cooperation was not put on hold even in the pandemic year, it continued in a different format. We have always felt the support of our Chinese friends,” the minister said.
The minister noted that such close cooperation became possible thanks to the close friendship of the two heads of state. “Our countries are running a lot of socio-economic development programs in the real sector of the economy. We see how fast our trade is growing. And, of course, Belarus and China always find areas of interest in the field of culture,” he said.
According to the culture minister, Belarusian performers always return from China with unforgettable impressions about the country and its friendly people. In turn, Chinese friends are always welcome in Belarus.
Anatoly Markevich expressed confidence that the good traditions uniting the peoples of our countries will further be supported, and cooperation plans will be implemented.
In turn, Head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Committee of Gansu Province Zhang Yongxia said that she was very glad to be in Belarus. She noted that after travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have been lifted, the parties will be able to fully resume their contacts. She invited the Belarusian counterparts to visit Gansu Province to participate in events held there, like the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo scheduled for September.
According to Zhang Yongxia, it is important that the leaders of Belarus and China are on friendly terms. It creates a good foundation for strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Belarus and China.
She also spoke about the development of the sister city movement with the Belarusian regions, including Grodno Oblast.
