Lukashenko extends Heydar Aliyev's 100th birthday greetings to Azerbaijan
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev on the 100th birthday of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.
“I know the words he said a quarter of a century ago: “Azerbaijan is my heart. Azerbaijan is my breath. Azerbaijan is my life.” I am sure that such a patriot, whose meaning of life was to serve his country, will always be remembered. I had a chance to know personally distinguished Heydar Aliyev, a unique person, a great politician, the founder of the modern state of Azerbaijan. I had the pleasure to learn political wisdom, self-control, and truly strategic thinking from him,” the message of greetings reads.
The head of state stressed that Belarus pays tribute to the memory of Ilham Aliyev's father, who stood at the origins of the formation of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation between Minsk and Baku. Aleksandr Lukashenko also emphasized the symbolism that 2023, which is declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, would mark the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“I sincerely wish you, as a faithful follower of your father's work, and your loved ones health, happiness and wellbeing, and peace and prosperity to the friendly Azerbaijani people,” the Belarusian leader added.
