Lukashenko lays wreath at Victory Monument in Minsk
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko traditionally took part in festivities on the occasion of Victory Day on 9 May, BelTA has learned.
The head of state laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk. Personally taking part in the wreath-laying ceremony is a tradition the president observes every year.
Wreaths and flowers were also laid at the monument by heads of government agencies, the parliament, the judge corps, defense, security, and law enforcement agencies, public associations, the diplomatic corps, veterans, and the clergy.
Aleksandr Lukashenko and all those present in Pobedy Square observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the fallen heroes.
The ceremony continued with the playing of Belarus’ national anthem and a solemn march of the combined company and the orchestra of the honor guard division of the Minsk City Commandant’s Office. A theatricalized musical number “We remember, are proud of, and won’t betray!” was performed in conclusion of the event.
