Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to Israel

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to Israeli President Isaac Herzog as the country celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“Every nation has the right to self-determination and protection of its interests. We sincerely hope for the establishment of lasting peace in the Middle East and reaching a compromise on the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” the message of greetings reads.
The deep historical ties between Belarusians and Jews go beyond politics, the president said. Today these ties have an even more significant impact on the formation of friendly and close relations.
“I am convinced that in the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Chaim Weizmann, a native of Belarus and the first President of Israel, our countries will find ways to intensify political dialogue and contacts in such sectors as trade, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science, education, high technology and tourism,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. “The restoration of transportation routes between our states would significantly contribute to the maintenance of inter-human and business ties.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Isaac Herzog and his relatives good health and wellbeing, and also prosperity and progress under a peaceful sky to all Israelis.
