Belarus restoring map of villages burned during war

08.12.2021

Belarus has been restoring the map of its villages burned during the war, Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved told BelTA.

“We are restoring the map of Belarusian villages burned during the war, including settlements, the information about which had been lost. This work is underway. Unfortunately, the list of such places continues increasing,” said Andrei Shved.

In his words, the names of those killed are being gradually restored from oblivion, too. “We continue working on mass graves, finding out new information,” said the prosecutor general. “For example, in Kopishche, we managed to identify a Red Army soldier from Uzbekistan (then Kazakhstan). We established full information on him thanks to expert research. We have sent the relevant materials to Uzbekistan so that the remains of this hero could be buried in his homeland. The same work continues on all places of mass killings of civilians and Red Army soldiers.
