CIS experts discuss joint efforts against corruption

The CIS headquarters in Minsk hosted a videoconference of the expert group to reconcile the draft agreement on joint efforts to fight corruption in the CIS, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Taking part in the meeting were representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee. Having considered the remarks and suggestions of the CIS member states, the experts finalized the document. It was decided to forward it to the member states to complete the domestic procedures. After that, the draft agreement is to be submitted for discussion at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council.

The press service noted that the agreement will facilitate joint efforts to combat corruption crimes and will help develop and implement a coordinated policy in this field.

The agreement establishes the conceptual framework and defines the main tasks of cooperation. These include the development and implementation of a coordinated policy, joint programs and activities, anti-corruption monitoring, improvement of the legal framework for cooperation and convergence of national legislations, joint efforts to prevent a further increase in the number of corruption crimes, information exchange and interaction in the field of anti-corruption education, as well as improving the international standing of the parties in the field of combating corruption.
