The CIS observers for the national referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of Belarus observed the process to set up precinct commissions, BelTA learned from the CIS observational mission.
"CIS long-term observers attended the meetings of the district executive committees on the formation of precinct commissions for the referendum in the Partizansky, Zavodsky, Leninsky and Moskovsky districts of Minsk. The observers noted that the meetings were held in accordance with the procedure determined by the Central Election Commission of Belarus. In cases where the number of applicants exceeded the stipulated number of members of the commission, a personal vote was held on each candidate," the mission said.
Currently, the process of forming the CIS observation mission continues. It is planned that the mission will include about 120 people representing the CIS member states, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the CIS Executive Committee and the Union State Standing Committee.
The main group of the CIS observers will arrive in Belarus 2-3 days before the referendum and will monitor the process in all regions of the country.
