Paralympic sports give a variety of opportunities for development, Belarusian Paralympic athlete Svetlana Sakhonenko said as he met with students at the No Borders for Sport – Vitebsk Oblast 2018 festival on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

The three-time Paralympic champion in cross country skiing cited her sports career as an example. After failing to qualify for Olympic competitions due to her visual impairment, she shifted to Paralympic sports as it was the only opportunity to do sport professionally.

She added that she is not going to leave sport and her plans for the near future are to get ready for the 2019 World Para-Nordic Skiing Championships in Canada.

Captain of Belarus' Paralympic national team in PyeongChang Dmitry Loban said that he got rid of bad habits thanks to sport.
