A trial run of the central software platform of the centralized healthcare information system will begin in Belarus on 14 September, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan.

Yelena Bogdan said: “We will begin the test operation of our platform on 14 September. It will last till March. The basic institutions where all the procedures will be tested have been chosen. Then we will have to transition to the actual deployment of the platform.”

The official remarked that preparations for transition to using the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) are important in this regard. “Because it uses a totally different structure. We expect the World Health Organization to provide a Russian version so that we could incorporate it into practical healthcare and use it as the foundation to build our digital healthcare,” she noted.

It is as important to prepare patients to work with the digital healthcare system. “Every patient will have his or her own personal account and access to medical data. Patients also have to know how to operate their personal account: make an appointment, get test results, conclusions of specialists,” Yelena Bogdan said.

Belarusian First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan met with Clayton Hamilton, regional advisor for digital healthcare with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, at premises of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry on 8 September.
