Vitebsk Airport will launch a charter flight program to Egypt which will run till 9 January 2018, BelTA learned from Sergei Ruris, the head of Vitebsk branch of Belaeronavigatsia company.
The airport will offer the charter service to Hurghada as from 21 September this year. Flights will be performed by the Belavia air carrier on a Boeing 737-800 which can seat up to 200 passengers. Customer of the charter flight program is the Tez Tour travel agency.
Vitebsk Airport is already running the charter flight programs to Turkey and Bulgaria and is exploring a similar program to Montenegro in 2018. This year, after a long hiatus (since 2009), Vitebsk Airport resumed servicing a regular Belavia air service to Kaliningrad from Vitebsk. Negotiations are underway over opening the air service to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Expanding the geography and bringing more flights to Vitebsk Airport stimulate the improvement of airport infrastructure, said Sergei Ruris. The company has been implementing a set of measures to upgrade the airport compound, including the service area for passengers to make travel a more comfortable experience.
Located 10km away from the regional center, Vitebsk Airport is an international airport (since 1996). The airport serves regular and charter flights within the country's boundaries, provides air traffic service in the area of the Vitebsk airport.
