The CIS countries have reported the GDP growth above the global average, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Moscow, BelTA learned.
“We gathered for our meeting at a time of the dynamically changing geopolitical situation, the formation of a multipolar world. Amid this turbulence, the role of regional economic associations, which are gaining more and more weight, independence and which are instrumental to sustainable economic growth, is significantly increasing. The CIS meets all these criteria. According to our statistics, in H1 this year the GDP of the CIS countries grew by almost 5%, significantly exceeding the global figures. The industrial and agricultural output, commercial cargo transportation, and retail have increased,” Roman Golovchenko said.
He also noted that the decision adopted by the heads of state on the status of observer and partner of the CIS opens new prospects for interaction with third countries and other integration friendly associations - EAEU, SCO and BRICS.
“Next year we will need to approve the action plan to the second stage of the CIS economic development strategy for the next five years. I am confident that the strategic session scheduled to be held in Minsk next year will make a significant contribution to the preparation of the plan. We are looking forward to the active participation of the CIS member states in the event,” the prime minister added.
