The decision to supply anti-personnel mines to Ukraine is a violation of the balance of power. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko told reporters, BelTA has learned.

An international conference "Applied aspects of scientific activities in defense and security of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization" opened in Minsk on 20 November.

"This is not the first time that Minsk has hosted the discussion of defense and security issues within the framework of the CSTO. We have put together a scientific and practical platform that brings together experts, the scientific community and military practitioners with an aim to design modern approaches to countering risks, challenges and threats," Pavel Muraveiko said. 

The chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces emphasized that such events are not held for the sake of appearances, they are necessitated by the reality on the ground. “Look around. Today, the geopolitical situation is clearly deteriorating, strategic instability is growing, and the inability of international institutions to influence ongoing processes is becoming increasingly evident. It is no secret that the confrontation between West and East has reached a hot phase,” said Pavel Muraveiko.
