New flights, air safety highlighted as main results for Belarusian aviation industry in 2023

The Aviation Department at the Transport and Communications Ministry held a board meeting to sum up the performance of the aviation industry in 2023, BelTA learned from the press service of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus.

"In 2023, the national air company Belavia operated regular flights to 20 airports in 10 countries. The air carrier opened two new regular routes from Minsk: to Delhi and Murmansk. In October, regular flights were launched on the route Gomel - Moscow. Five foreign carriers started operating flights to Minsk (currently 11 in total). A set of repair works was carried out to restore the first runway at Minsk National Airport. An intergovernmental agreement on air communication was signed with Oman," the Transport and Communications Ministry said. Negotiations on the development of cooperation were held with the aviation authorities of Russia, Egypt, China, Oman, Vietnam, Venezuela, Iran, Kazakhstan and other countries. Domestic procedures are being carried out to sign international air transport agreements with Venezuela, Kenya and the Seychelles. Safety was fully ensured at the civil aviation facilities of Belarus. Belarusian Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubina took part in the board meeting in Minsk on 8 February.
